Scheduling for the 2026-2027 school year will start to take place when Heights High students get back from Winter Recess in January and it is important for students to be aware of all of the course options that are available to them. Being informed about the variety of two-year CTE programs that are offered is especially vital for students in the Class of 2028 who are interested in gaining hands-on experience in an industry that they want to pursue a career in.
On November 14, nearly 130 Heights High sophomores traveled to Maple Heights High School to learn about the twenty-two CTE programs that are offered at the annual Heights Career Tech Choice Fair. At the fair, the students were able see what Career & Technical Education opportunities are available not only at Heights High school, but also at the other three schools in the Heights Career Tech Consortium. They also got a sneak peek of what they would learn and experience if they decided to sign up for a Heights Career Tech program.
The 10th graders were able to learn more about the courses and hands-on experiences that are offered in each program, as well as the career and industry accreditations that could be available upon graduation. The students asked the instructors and current CTE students questions about their experiences with the programs, projects that they care currently working on, and careers that the CTE students are planning to pursue.
"The Heights CTE programs offer college credits, industry recognized credentials, and a head start into students' chosen career paths," says David Bogner, the Director for the Heights Career Tech Consortium.
The Heights Career Tech programs are offered to 11th and 12th graders and provides students with hands-on, real world experience in one of twenty-two career paths. "Each CTE program is a two-year commitment," Bogner explains, "which prepares students who want to go directly into the workforce after high school graduation, as well as those who plan to attend college. It's a win for everyone!"
The application for 10th graders interested in a CTE program opens Monday, November 24, 2025 and must be submitted before January 23, 2026. The Heights Career Tech Consortium high encourages students to submit their applications over Thanksgiving or Winter Recess.
