This 5-day interactive workshop will provide participants with knowledge and skills necessary to implement a variety of evidence-based practices to teach academic, language and communication, fine motor, leisure, and social skills to students with autism spectrum disorder and other developmental disabilities. A strong emphasis will be placed on implementing antecedent-based interventions including environmental arrangement and visual supports including schedules, work/activity systems, and visually structured activities.
The presenter draws on her experience working at the TEACCH Program in North Carolina and her 30+ years of providing support to individuals with ASD and their families, teachers, care-givers to share practical strategies for engaging students with ASD in everyday learning activities. The evidence-based practices addressed this session are also effective for students with ADHD, cognitive disabilities, and learning disabilities.
